May 10, 2026
The 2026 theme for National Skilled Nursing Care Week (NSNCW), Moments in Bloom, celebrates how small, meaningful interactions grow into lasting experiences. Each act of kindness, every shared smile, and the spirit of teamwork between residents, families, and staff helps relationships blossom, creating a vibrant and supportive community. These moments, both big and small, nurture purpose, connection, and joy, allowing everyone to thrive as relationships continue to bloom.
From May 10–16, families, residents, and staff are invited to celebrate growth, connection, and the beauty of everyday moments with activities that let everyone participate and flourish:
- Share a note of kindness – Write favorite memories or thoughtful messages on floral-themed cards and deliver them to brighten someone’s day.
- Plant and nurture – Decorate flowerpots and plant seeds or flowers, a simple reminder that growth and new beginnings can flourish at any stage of life.
- Create a blooming wall – Contribute messages of gratitude or encouragement to a shared display that grows throughout the week like a garden in full bloom.
- Make floral art together – Try paper flower crafts, pressed flower bookmarks, or botanical coloring pages to let creativity blossom
- Connect across generations – Invite children, grandchildren, or local youth to join in flower-themed activities, performances, or card-making, helping friendships bloom across ages.
Established by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) in 1967, NSNCW recognizes the essential role skilled nursing care centers play.
