I would like to provide an important update regarding our laundry policy to help reduce the risk of misplaced items. Effective immediately, all washable items brought into the facility must be clearly labeled, regardless of who will be responsible for laundering them. Housekeeping staff are responsible for labeling clothing, but it may be done by family if preferred. At times, items may be sent to laundry unintentionally or due to an immediate need for cleaning, even if they are typically laundered by family members. Ensuring that all items are properly labeled will help us return them promptly and accurately to the appropriate resident When bringing items into the facility, please adhere to the following guidelines:
- Give all washable items to a member of management to be labeled before placing them in the resident’s room.
- Ensure a “Family Will Do Laundry” sign (provided by Admissions) is displayed on the resident’s closet door if that is the plan in place.
- While not required, we strongly recommend (for those with family washing their clothing) leaving a laundry hamper or similar container in the residents’ room for staff to place soiled items. This helps prevent items from being mixed with a roommate’s belongings or with facility clothing and linens.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to improve our processes. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.
